The Specialty
Coffee Association of America presents the 2006 Northwest
Regional Barista Competition. This event is being hosted hosted by Stumptown
Coffee Roasters & the American
Barista & Coffee
School. The NWRBC took place, October 20–22, 2006 at
The Wonder Ballroom,
in beautiful Portland, Oregon.
In
the United States, professional baristas compete within their region
in hopes of winning the regional title, which guarantees them
a spot in the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s United
States Barista Championship (USBC) event semifinals round. The winner
of the 2006 Northwest Regional Barista Championship will travel to
Long Beach, California, to compete in the USBC in May of 2007. More
than 50 baristas are expected to compete in that intense competition
for the national title and the chance to represent the United States
at the eighth annual World
Barista Championship in July in Tokyo,
Japan.
